Today we're celebrating both nurses and moms in Saranac Lake history! Juanita Hayman (AKA Nita) came to Trudeau Sanatorium as a patient in the 1930s after training as a nurse at Bellevue. She stayed to work as nurse, where she met a fellow patient, Ed Worthington. They married in 1937 and settled in Saranac Lake to raise their daughter, Janet. Nita later worked as a nurse in local doctors' offices.
Historic Saranac Lake is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and an Essex County Arts Council Cultural Assistance Program Grant supported by the Essex County Board of Supervisors.
