Welcome Emily!

We’re excited to welcome our new Museum Assistant, Emily Banach! Emily is joining the HSL staff for about 15 months to work on photograph digitization and general collections work, including reference requests, donation processing, and more! She is a recent graduate of the M.S. in Library and Information Science program at Syracuse University. While at SU, she focused her studies on historical materials and worked for the Syracuse University Archives.

Emily also attended SUNY Binghamton and has a bachelor’s degree in English and Classical Languages. She has lived in Upstate New York her whole life and is excited to learn more about Saranac Lake and it’s history by working at HSL. Emily’s work is made possible with grant funding from the Northern New York Library Network and the Institute of Museum and Library Services!

Please give Emily a warm welcome! If you have a reference request, you’ll probably be hearing from her. We look forward to sharing more about her work in the coming months!

This week we're saying a fond farewell to our intern, Lauren Gulbicki! Lauren is a current senior at St. Lawrence University. She is majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Public Health and Outdoor Studies. Lauren completed an internship at The Saranac Laboratory Museum to complete her capstone internship, a unique component of St. Lawrence University’s Adirondack Semester. After graduating this Spring, Lauren hopes to pursue a career in global public health with a focus on infectious disease work. Thanks for all your hard work, Lauren!
