Tour: Little Red and the Trudeau Statue

Thursday August 24, 1:00PM: Take a tour of one of Saranac Lake's first cure cottages and visit to the statue of Dr. Trudeau. You will get to go inside of Little Red and learn more about its history, as well as learning about the Trudeau Statue's claim to fame. Advance ticket purchases or RSVPs are required in advance by noon on the Monday before the tour. A maximum of 8 tickets will be available for this tour. Tickets are non-refundable. Rain or shine. $10/person, children and members of Historic Saranac Lake free. Tickets include same-day admission to the Saranac Laboratory Museum. Tickets available on our website.

If you wish to reserve a ticket but do not want to purchase one online, please call HSL at 518-891-4606 or email us to guarantee a ticket. You will receive an email from us with instructions on where to meet our guide the day before the tour.

All fees help support Historic Saranac Lake!

Volunteer open Training Hours

Want to get involved as a docent with Historic Saranac Lake and the Saranac Laboratory Museum? Join us for walk-in training hours Wednesdays and Fridays from 10AM to 12PM, August 18 through September 3. Training may also include administrative tasks as interests dictate.

No registration is required, but you can fill out our volunteer form in advance. If you cannot join us during open hours, fill out the above form or contact Mahala Nyberg by email or at 518-891-4606.

Event: Cure Porch Architecture

Join us at 10:00AM on Wednesday, August 4 for a morning of celebrating cure porch architecture and educating our neighbors about historic preservation. We need your help to spread the word! Meet at the Cure Porch on Wheels parked behind the museum for a brief training with Executive Director Amy Catania on cure porch architecture and the importance of historic preservation. Then help us educate the local community with a walk through Helen Hill Historic District distributing flyers. We will leave from the museum following the introduction at the Cure Porch on Wheels and walk through the Helen Hill neighborhood, rain or shine!

This event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is not required. This program is part of a series of educational talks and programs sponsored by a Humanities New York Action Grant.

For the first of four local history days this summer and fall, the Cure Porch on Wheels will be visiting the Summer Market at the Station in Downtown Onchiota on Saturday, July 24. Come check it out to learn more about cure porch architecture and see components of Historic Saranac Lake's new exhibit "Pandemic Perspectives." We'll be hanging out from 12-2PM!

Mini Exhibit: History Dads

Pay a visit to the Saranac Laboratory Museum through June 26 to see our mini exhibit on some of our favorite fathers in Saranac Lake history, in honor of Father's Day and New York State's Path Through History Weekend! This mini exhibit is included with admission to the museum. Visitors can vote for their favorite history dad and enter to win a dad-themed prize pack from Historic Saranac Lake!

The Saranac Laboratory Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM - 5PM. Admission is $7/adults, $5/students, and free for children and members of Historic Saranac Lake. We hope to see you soon!

Reopening Day at the Saranac Laboratory Museum!

The Saranac Laboratory Museum is reopening to the public! We are so excited to welcome you all back! We are offering timed entry tickets that can be purchased online in advance.

We will now be open our usual hours, Tuesday-Saturday from 10AM to 5PM. Timed entry tickets are not required but recommended; you may have a short wait if you do not purchase tickets. Masks will be required. Please see the Visit page for for more information!
