Summer Internship

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

Want to help make history matter? Historic Saranac Lake is hiring high school sophomores or juniors for paid summer internships. Applicants should be friendly, energetic, and interested in Saranac Lake history. Interns will greet visitors, help conduct tours, and assist with other projects at the museum.

Possible duties include:
  • Greeting and providing information to visitors at the Saranac Laboratory Museum
  • Helping to lead tours in the museum and at historic sites around Saranac Lake
  • Running the gift shop and processing transactions
  • Researching historical topics for the wiki website and tours
  • Helping with the management of museum collections, including scanning
  • Assisting with publicity, including distributing flyers and rack cards to local businesses
  • Other duties and projects as needed

Qualifications:
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for Saranac Lake history
  • Friendliness and confidence interacting with the general public
  • Willingness to learn new skills and information
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated 

Terms of internship:
Internships are part-time, approximately 14 per hours a week (ideally 10:00am-5:00pm two days per week) for 8 weeks. 
​Interns will be paid $15/hour.
