Group Tours

Historic Saranac Lake offers a number of tours by appointment only. Some of these tours are offered on a weekly basis, check out our Events page for those dates. 

Group Tour of the Saranac Laboratory Museum

Historic Saranac Lake offers special tours of the Saranac Laboratory museum to groups. Please call HSL at 518-891-4606 or email mail@historicsaranaclake.org to talk about the options for your group tour.

Trudeau Sanatorium Tour

Tour the grounds of the former Trudeau Sanatorium, now the American Management Association. Meet at the parking area on the right after the Gate House, inside the Park Avenue gate (for GPS, use 455 Park Avenue. This will put you just before the gates. If you are at the stone chapel, you are on the wrong end of the campus). This is an entirely outdoor walking tour and takes place rain or shine. $10/person, children and members of Historic Saranac Lake free. RSVPs required, please call HSL at 518-891-4606 or email mail@historicsaranaclake.org before noon on Tuesday. The tour price includes admission to the Saranac Laboratory Museum.

Downtown tour

Take a walk and learn about the history of Saranac Lake’s downtown! Meet at the Riverside Park Bandshell (along Lake Flower on the corner of River Street and Main Street, diagonally across from the Town Hall) at 10:30 AM. The tour ends at the Saranac Laboratory Museum on Church Street. $10/person, children and members of Historic Saranac Lake free. The tour price includes admission to the Saranac Laboratory Museum.

Cure Cottage Museum

Visit a patient room and cure porch in an historic private home and learn about the experiences of tuberculosis patients in Saranac Lake. Meet on the porch of 103 Helen Street in Saranac Lake at 10:30AM. $10/person, children and members of Historic Saranac Lake free. The tour price includes admission to the Saranac Laboratory Museum.

Little Red and Trudeau Statue

Meet at the Trudeau Institute, 154 Algonquin Avenue, for a tour of one of Saranac Lake's first cure cottages and a visit to the statue of Dr. Trudeau. Meet at the sign by "Little Red," the small red cottage on the hill. Rain or shine. $10/person, children and members of Historic Saranac Lake free. The tour price includes admission to the Saranac Laboratory Museum.

The Bartók Cabin ​

Tours of the Bartók Cabin are available only through Historic Saranac Lake. Please call 518-891-4606 or email   mail@historicsaranaclake.org to set up an appointment. These tours are available on an appointment-only basis, so advanced notice is required. The Cabin is on private property, so access is only available through HSL.
