Join Chessie--on a colder day last month--for a mini tour about the statue of Dr. Edward Livingston Trudeau. These days, the statue is located behind the Trudeau Institute. We hope you'll join us in person for a tour in the future!

It's Wednesday, and today's Mini Tour subject is Little Red! Watch to learn more about this icon of Trudeau Sanatorium and the Fresh Air Cure. Don't worry, we'll take you inside on a future Mini Tour!
Read more about Little Red on our wiki, too: https://localwiki.org/hsl/Little_Red We received hundreds of fascinating items from Post Office Pharmacy as a donation from Jim Bevilacqua earlier this year! Today, Chessie is sharing a few interesting items from the collection. We're excited to learn more about local history, medical history, and TB industry history from these items, but we also can't wait to show you them in a display on pharmacy history in Saranac Lake, coming in the future! If you have questions, or requests for a future mini tour, comment below. Thanks for tuning in!
Time for another Wednesday Mini Tour! Amy visited with Martha Reben at the Saranac Laboratory Museum to tell you a little bit about Reben's amazing life. Visit our wiki to learn more about her story!
In keeping with the theme of this week's Letter from the Porch, we are excited to share a Wednesday DIY Tour! Instead of watching us tour a site, you can now visit The Clio website or download the Clio app to get out for a walk and take a self-guided tour of our downtown. The tour will tell you the history of buildings downtown based on your location, so if there's a building in town that you've always wondered, "what about?!," now's the chance to take a stroll through town and find out!
And don't worry, when the museum reopens, we'll resume offering our popular guided downtown walking tour (and more!) for that personalized, behind-the-scenes information from one of our knowledgeable staff. Thanks to Clio for offering this awesome app free of charge so we can all learn about history all around us! Not in Saranac Lake? You can still view the tour online or on your phone, AND you can see what historic sites have been added near you (and add some of your own!). It's Wednesday Mini Tour time! Our Museum Administrator Chessie took a walk to a site with a link to our Art of the Cure Exhibit. Watch to learn more about the significance of this building!
Want to know even more? Visit our wiki. If you have a Mini Tour request, let us know! Since we can't show you the museum and our local historic sites in person, we want to try out a new feature! Introducing... Wednesday Mini Tours! We'll share a mini tour every week - these can be about people, places, and objects from Saranac Lake history.
Our first mini tour is about Dr. Lawrason Brown. Watch the video to hear from our Executive Director, Amy, about Dr. Brown. Want to know even more? Visit our wiki. If you have a mini tour subject you'd like to request, let us know! |
