Historic Saranac Lake will open Dr. Trudeau's home and medical office at 118 Main Street as a museum exploring the important history of Saranac Lake as a center for patient care. Interpretation at Trudeau's neighboring laboratory will focus on the history of scientific research.
HSL will use approximately two thirds of the ground floor of 118 Main for museum exhibits and collections, a museum store, and public space for arts and cultural events. The proposed first floor museum space is already fully handicap accessible. We will seek matching grants from the New York State Council on the Arts and the Institute for Museum and Library Studies to design interactive and engaging museum exhibits that complement redesigned interpretation at the Saranac Laboratory.
